It's one of the finest scenes I've every had the luxury to aim a lens at. The skateboard field is in stellar condition & obviously maintained and loved by a close community. The skill levels are extraordinary, but that doesn't stop the novice at taking his turn within the supportive [and competitive] group of boarders.
Beyond the concrete extrends a variety of artists, the ocean, and lots of weirdness.
I often head over on a Friday night with my wife; she paints the scene. The park is huge with the downtown Houston skyline as a backdrop
The scene is welcoming and non-competitive. Most boarders are just doing their work, either solo or within a group.
The largest skatepark I've ever seen. It's mind blowing. I've been both during the day and at night. You'll have a scene to yourself during the day. Evenings, the crowds are still thin.
